Presentation of DP

DP was established in 1992, as a splinter of UBP, by Serdar Denktaş (b. 1959), the son of Rauf Denktaş (1924-2012), the historical leader of the Turkish Cypriots and first President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (1983-2006).
DP served as the junior party in several coalition governments ran by CTP (1993-1998,2003-2009, 2103-2015) and UBP (2015-).

Flag of DP

The flag of DP (photo,photo) is red with the party's emblem in the center. The emblem is made of a white disk charged in the center with a green torch with red flames, surmounting the party's acronym and full name in red letters, and surrounded by two olive branches.
